04 Jul Sew What!
Today (Friday) we had a PIAW (Play in a Week) workshop at The Grange Centre in Bookham. I went with Sam, Anna and Sonas; other members there included Zena, Dan and Brandon, plus people from The Grange itself and SeeAbility in Leatherhead.
We started in the morning with a warm up session. Then we said our names with actions to match. Next we rehearsed the play, Sew What, as The Grange Centre started off as a centre for sewing in Leicester!
Then we watched a film of a ‘sand dance’ by Wilson, Kettle and Betty; it was very funny. Next was drinks break, and we then continued rehearsing to the end of the play, followed by lunch.
During the afternoon we went outside and had a group photo with the words ‘Thank you for helping with Sew What, Play In A Week’, as various groups have given donations towards it. We also talked about how to project someone sewing onto a big screen: ideas included filming on camera and then showing it on the screen later, and people acting out being a needle and thread, plus others.
I think we finished with a cool down session; I think today was tiring but enjoyable, and hope the rest would agree.
